Junior featherweight prospect Brooklyn “The Big Deal” Barwick has signed an exclusive managerial contract with Sullivan Management.

Barwick, a 26-year-old who is 4-0 (4 KOs) since turning pro on March 1, lives in Manhattan and fights out of the New York City Cops and Kids gym in Brooklyn under trainer Jimmy Sosa. A prominent social media influencer, Barwick blew past influencer boxing and the amateurs, and is off to a strong start in the pros since moving from Laguna Beach, California, to New York.

“I was an athletic wrestler, gymnast and cheerleader in high school,” Barwick said. “I heard about influencer boxing in Los Angeles and thought I’d try it once, but I liked boxing. I decided to turn pro and moved to New York City after I had a breakup because I needed a change. I don’t ever want to go back.”

Barwick has a growing support system in her new home, where Nisa Rodriguez – a New York City police officer and another pro fighter managed by Keith Sullivan – has been among those who have provided guidance.

“Me and Nisa are good friends, but she’s also like my advisor,” Barwick said. “She’s my boxing mom, my cut woman, and she helped me connect with Keith. She took me under her wing. Nisa is amazing. She even braids my hair and then gives me training advice. I call her a Super Woman.”

In addition to her social media presence, Barwick has several interesting characteristics that could help her develop into a fan favorite. She stands just 4ft 11ins – tiny even for a junior featherweight – but describes herself as a “pitbull” in the ring, as well as a workaholic.

Additionally, Barwick is the only Jewish women’s professional boxer in the United States – and one of just two in the world.

“We have limited representation in boxing,” Barwick noted. “I want to become the biggest thing in Jewish culture; inducted into the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and fill a boxing event for my people. And I want to make my name known to Jewish kids who someday will look up to me.”

Said Sullivan: “Brooklyn is hungry, disciplined and fearless – everything I look for in an athlete. I am excited to stand in her corner as she takes the next big steps in her journey. She has a great mentor in the sport in Nisa.”
