New York - IBF World Welterweight Champion Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KO’s) is taking on a task not many in the 160 pound division want to do; fight IBO/WBA/IBF/WBC champion Gennady Golovkin.

Frustrated on both sides of the fence to land a major fight, the two will come together on September 10th at the O2 Arena in England. Although Brook is a big underdog, he isn’t short on confidence.

“Ever since I started boxing, I always wanted to be the best in the world, to be the best you go beat the best,” Brook told BoxingScene.com. “It’s been so hard to match me. I been trying to unify with Keith Thurman and Danny Garcia, but it’s so hard to get these guys in the ring with me. When this came to me, I jumped at it because boxing is a short window, there aren’t many times big fights come around.”

As to the size difference, Brook says there’s not much difference.

“There’s no big difference in size,” Brook stated. “I don’t think he’s ever fought anyone with my style. I’m bringing the speed and power up to 160. When he sees my jab and my right hand, he’s not going to come out like everyone thinks he will. He’s a great fighter but it’s my time to shine.”

Brook surprised many when he told reporters that he cannot wait to be punched by Golovkin.

“I’m excited to taste his power,” explained Brook. “I’ve never been put down in a fight and I think I can take a good shot. I think the weight will suit me well because I been killing myself to make 147. I think I’ll be a lot healthier. I’ll be able to eat more in training.”

Brook feels his pedigree is second to none in boxing and that will be to his advantage.

“I come from the Prince Naseem gym which was the best gym in England,” stated Brook. “You saw how Prince Naseem was and we’re cut from the same cloth and I’m the last of that generation. You’re going to see something special. I believe he’s never seen something like me. I never been beat, similar to him. You’re going to see my power. If I catch anybody clean, I can knock them out. In Golovkin, I don’t see many weaknesses to be honest. That’s going to make me that much hungrier.”
