Sheffield's Kell Brook will have an extra incentive when fighting Lovemore N'dou on a Matchroom promoted show at the Hillsborough leisure centre on June 25. Brook and N'dou will contest the WBA International welterweight title come fight night. Brook crashed into the WBA 147lb rankings earlier today. Kell is now ranked at number 6 with the organisation.
Ukraine's Viacheslav Senchenko holds the WBA title, he is due to defend against Marco Antonio Avendano on August 20th and could move into a fight with Brook, 25, by the end of the year if both men post wins. Indeed, an impressive victory for Kell over the teak tough N'dou could lead to a further rankings boost as he seeks to net either a WBA or WBO welterweight title tilt.
Brook's new promoter, Eddie Hearn, believes that Brook could be a world champion by the turn of the year or within the next nine months. "We wanted to show Kell that we were serious," revealed Hearn. "We are honoured to be fighting for the WBA International title and a win over N'dou could see him pushed further up the rankings. We can hopefully go and win the WBA title so that Amir Khan has got someone to challenge if he comes up to welterweight. Kell will have this fight then come back in September or October, either for a world title or a defence of his belt and a final eliminator."
