IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-1, 25 KOs) is ready to put on a spectacular show on May 27th, when he headlines a huge show at Bramall Lane in Sheffield.
Brook will face undefeated mandatory challenger, Errol Spence (21-0, 18 KOs), who is regarded by many as a rising star in the sport.
“[Spence] very good southpaw who used long range well; he has got good hand speed power and a good boxing brain. He is talented in every department," Brook told the Sheffield Star.
The fight will be Brook's grand return to the welterweight division.
Last September, he moved up by two full weight divisions to challenge IBO, IBF, WBA, WBC middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin at the O2 Arena in London. Brook was stopped in the fifth round and suffered a fractured orbital bone, which kept him out of the gym for a few months.
He believes his power, and the loud Sheffield crowd, will play a big factor in the fight. He intends to test Spence's chin very early.
“The last time he lost was in Britain in the amateurs and when he comes here he will see a very hostile crowd in my backyard. The thing is that I am more experienced and he has never faced anything like me. I had what it takes to become a champion and have what it takes to stay one and I have been in with some great fighters. He will never have felt the power I have in my shots," Brook said.
Spence has looked very impressive in his last fight, but Brook was far from impressed by those wins and plans to give the undefeated Olympian a rude awakening when they collide.
“He faced (last two fights) an over-the-hill Leonard Bundu (age 42) and Chris Algieri who had a very low percentage KO rate (33%) and is a 10 stone fighter. Against me he is up against his hardest puncher," Brook said.
