IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-0, 25KOs) is not worried about the 22 fight knockout streak of WBA/WBC/IBF/IBO middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs).
Brook will fight Golovkin for those titles on September 10th at the O2 Arena in London.
To take on the dangerous task of facing one of the most feared fighters in the sport, the Sheffield man is moving up by two full weight divisions (a full thirteen pounds).
A lot has been made over the recent 30-day weight check, as mandated by the World Boxing Council.
Brook, seen as the smaller man, weighed 176-pounds - which was 11-pounds more than Golovkin, who was only 165.
Brook rejects the idea that he's eating himself silly to pack on additional mass. He's following a healthy diet and no longer starving himself to get down to the welterweight limit of 147.
"I don’t have to restrict myself to just eating X-amount of calories all the time,’ Brook said to Daily Mail. "It's just about eating clean, little and often – very often. I'm feeling very healthy because I don't need to diet hard to make welterweight. I'm making 160, not 147."
"It gets very bad making 147. If you look back at my previous fights, how lean I am on the scales, there's not an ounce on me. It's nice to put those extra few pounds on. Usually the whole camp has to be watched and monitored because it's very difficult to make 147lbs. There is no secret about that. Now I could probably have a few cakes if I wanted but really, it's just rubbish carbs. I want to be eating clean, eating things that mend my body with nutritional value."
No fighter has been able to last more than eleven rounds with Golovkin. The last 22 opponents were punished by Golovkin's power and failed to reach the scorecards. Brook welcomes the challenge.
"I've always wanted to be tested and that is what will happen in this fight. It also shows that I don't give a sh*t. I want to fight the best and I fear no man. This fight proves that," Brook said.
