Former IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-2, 25 KOs) is still gunning for a showdown with his domestic rival, Amir Khan (31-4, 19 KOs).

Brook is recovering from a fractured orbital bone, which he sustained during his TKO defeat at the hands of Errol Spence back in May.

Khan has been out of the ring since suffering a knockout loss at the hands of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez back in May of 2016. Khan then underwent surgery for a longtime hand injury and has not fought since.

Brook has been gunning for a showdown with Khan for several years, but they have not been able to get a deal together for a number of reasons.

There were serious talks earlier this year, but they fell apart when Khan accepted a deal to face Manny Pacquiao in April - but then that fight fell out when the investors were unable to show proof of funds to stage the event in UAE, so Pacquiao fought Jeff Horn in July in Brisbane.

Brook's promoter, Eddie Hearn, told BoxingScene.com that his boxer will be back in action in February, potentially on HBO. And Hearn is still very interested in making the deal to fight Khan.

Khan, in several recent interviews, said that he's more than willing to face Brook - but under one condition - Brook would have to part ways with Hearn to make the agreement happen.

"I want to get in there and beat Queen Khan up," Brook said to The Mirror at an App Empire UK event. "We all want to see me stood over him, saying, 'listen, I told you. I told you.' We want to make that fight happen. We all want to see it. I want to smash him."

Should no fight with Khan come about, Brook will be heading straight up to the junior middleweight limit of 154 pounds.
