IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-0, 25KOs) believes Chris Eubank Sr., father and manager of British middleweight champion Chris Eubank Jr., is ruining his son's career with his antics and wild demands.
Eubank Sr. and Matchroom Sports head Eddie Hearn were unable to reach an agreement for a fall fight with IBF/IBO/WBC/WBA middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs).
Once Eubank Jr. fell out, Hearn offered the fight to Brook - and a deal was announced last Friday for September 10th at the O2 Arena in London.
Hearn says Eubank, and his father/manager Chris Eubank Sr., were demanding operational control of the entire event. Brook will retain his status as the IBF' welterweight champion and now moves up by thirteen pounds to face one of the most dangerous fighters in the sport.
Brook has no idea what the father is thinking with his crazy demands, but the one who suffers ie Eubank Jr. - who now finds himself in limbo with no major opportunity in sight for the near future.
"He just became the British champion. I think he's got a lot of potential, but I think his dad's an idiot, a joker, I can't take him serious. I don't like him as a person. He's ruining his son's life. I don't know who he thinks he is, but he's ruining the kid's life," Brook told IFL TV.
"He had the same contract that I signed, and I'm a world champion unbeaten. I signed the contract in no time. He was dragging his feet and messing and messing. He messed it up for his son and I'm going to show him what's up in this fight."
