Former four division world champion Adrien Broner was so excited by the prospect of fighting undefeated lightweight Mikey Garcia, he immediately said yes and then hung up the phone.

Garcia, a three-division world champion and current WBC lightweight title holder, is 36-0, but Broner is unimpressed.

"Mikey Garcia says he has great power, but I would like to see what his opponents would do if I hit them," Broner said. "Give me all 36 of his opponents and give him all of my opponents, let's see what our records would be."

The two boxing champions will face off July 29 in a Showtime televised main event from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, with a contract weight being set down at the junior welterweight limit of 140 pounds.

Garcia will be moving up from 135 pounds while Broner, who captured a world title as high as welterweight and owns a record of 33-2, has already been competing at 140 and won a world title in that division as well.

"Everyone Mikey has put down has been at 135 pounds and under," Broner said. "I’ve already been a champion there. After this fight I think he's going to go back to where he belongs… in the lower weight classes."

While Broner talked some trash, he did call Garcia a "great fighter", but it was followed by a disclaimer.

"I just feel like I'm on a different level," he said. "The best is fighting the best right here and it's going to be explosive."

Garcia would not take the bait to exchange verbal barbs in what was a fairly tame news conference.

"Everybody already knows what kind of fighter Adrien Broner is," Garcia said. "He's a champion for a reason, the skills and talent are there. I'm undefeated and you can't deny my skills either. That's going to make this a great fight.

"When Adrien is at his best he's a fantastic fighter. I'm always at my best. You can never doubt that. You're going to see an incredible fight."
