Unbeaten welterweight Lee Redpath’s opponent switched to Paul O’Brien in Edinburgh on February 27

Welterweight southpaw Lee Redpath 1-0-0 from Edinburgh was due to fight against veteran Sid Razak 9-128-0 at the Fauldhouse Miners Welfare Club in Scotland on Friday 27th February in his second pro outing but has received news this week of an opponent switch to 31-year-old Yorkie Paul O’Brien 0-2-0.

Redpath’s second professional outing over another six two-minute rounds takes place on Prospect Boxing’s first show of the year at the Fauldhouse Miners Welfare in West Lothian where local fighter Sean Watson returns to action for the first time since August 2013 in a bid for the British Masters super-featherweight title.

The 32-year-old Scottish southpaw home fighter will be looking to double his win tally after successfully kicking off his professional career with a shut-out points win over Kristian Laight 9-192-7 in September last year. Redpath secured all six of the two-minute rounds at the Cleland Miners Club in Scotland.

The 31-year-old away fighter Paul O’Brien 0-2-0 has lost both professional contests to date with one stoppage defeat.

Redpath stated of his forthcoming foe, “I am really looking forward to the fight. I don't know anything about Paul so pretty much in the dark about what he has to offer but am sure it will be a great fight, training is going well and am looking forward to putting on a good show for everyone.”

On his debut in October last year, O’Brien managed to nick a round from his Scottish opponent Gary Murray who remains undefeated in three fights.

Less than three weeks later in Plymouth in his second pro bout, O’Brien received a cut under his left eye that called a halt to the four round contest against the Midlands Area lightweight title challenger Josh McLaren in the penultimate round.

Content to fight quickly in succession, after his third match on February 28th against Redpath, O’Brien fights again just three weeks later on March 21st against popular Polish welterweight Carl ‘The Doctor’ Ozimkowski 0-3-0 at the York Hall in Bethnal Green.

For the home fighter, this contest will be just his second bout in the pro game but is expecting a good crowd of support on the night for a fledgling pro, he explained, “Sold a lot of tickets so far, the venue’s only about 25 minutes drive away so I’ll definitely be taking a big crowd from Edinburgh with me.”

Headlining fight between local favourite Sean Watson 3-2-1 and Jonathan Fry 1-11-1 takes place over eight three-minute rounds for the vacant British Masters super-featherweight honours.

The native hero Sean ‘Watty’ Watson enters the ring for the first time in almost two years due to work commitments and injury woes. His last fight against James Ancliff 1-25-3 in March 2013 resulted in a shut-out point victory at the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell.

To begin the year with a British Masters title following such a lengthy absence from the ring will be an incredible start for the 25-year-old Fauldhouse resident.

Debutant Martin Taylor makes his pro bow against Alec Bazza 0-6-1 over six two-minute rounds at light-welterweight.

Black Country Boxing’s ‘Heir To The Throne’ bill is taking shape.

The bumper boxing show, in association with the Fight Factory, takes place at to The Chase Leisure Centre on Saturday, 28th February 2015.

Stafford’s undefeated fighter, Grant Cunningham, tops the bill as he steps down to middleweight to take on Damon Jones in an English Middleweight Title Eliminator.

“I’m feeling fit and sharp and ready to go,” Cunningham told www.uko-boxing.com. “It’s a big night of boxing. Most of the lads on the show have topped bills in their own right, so it’s an honour to be heading this one up.”

Walsall’s Luke Paddock is also in action as he makes a maiden defence of his Midlands Area Light Welterweight Title when he takes on Newark’s Fergus Taylor. Paddock has a perfect nine-fight record whilst Taylor has won seven of his opening nine professional contests, losing just once.

Stafford’s Rob Hunt also goes in search of title honours. The 29 year-old goes on the hunt for a British Bronze Masters Welterweight Title when he steps in with Exeter’s Faheem Khan.

Stourbridge’s former Midlands Area Welterweight King, Steven Pearce, is also in action as he steps in with tough Latvian, Eduards Krauklis, for his first outing of 2015

Birmingham super featherweight prospect, Sean ‘Showtime’ Davis, steps in with Maidenhead’s Jack ‘Crackerjack’ Heath whilst Leeds welterweight, Stevi Mennell, takes on Halesowen-based Kevin McAuley.

Completing the bill is Stoke light welterweight, Josh McLaren, who takes on Atherton’s William Warburton and Middlesbrough’s Mohammed Waqas who steps in with Reading’s Ibrar Riyaz.

The show takes place at Chase Leisure Centre, Stafford Road, Cannock, Staffordshire, WS11 4AL.
