Returning cruiserweight Paul Briggs is making a plan to test the chin of Danny Green like no other opponent has done in the past. Briggs (26-3, 18 KOs) returns after a three year retirement on July 21 to challenge IBO cruiserweight champion Danny Green (29-3, 26 KOs) at the Entertainment Centre in Sydney, Australia.
Briggs was once regarded as a top-three light heavyweight. Two close battles with Tomasz Adamek earned him a new respect. Both of those contests ended with very close decision losses.
While he was a top light heavyweight, he tried to get fights with Green. Briggs spoke with Reeklama and said Green turned him down with no reason given.
"I always wanted this fight. He turned me down for no reason when I was still fighting without providing a reason. Two times I asked him. I never turned away from any fight in my entire career. When we get in the ring, I want to knock Green out. I have the power to make it happen. I will test him. Nobody has ever tested him like this before [like I plan to]," Briggs said.
