Brian Rose is sure he can avenge February's first-round defeat to Carson Jones when the pair meet on Saturday night.

The 30-year-old looked the slicker in the opening exchanges of the pair's initial meeting before the American rocked him with a cuffing right and forced a controversial stoppage - and Rose told Sky Sports there is only one winner of the rematch in Hull this weekend.

Rose (26-3-1-KO8) said: "He's given me a chance to put it right and I promise you on Saturday night, it'll be a different outcome.

"The referee is there to protect you. I think it was too early and I think Carson knows it was too early but I don't blame the referee any more and I apologise for how I reacted after the fight.

"People knew what it meant for my family and when you're stopped early when you don't think you should be, you can understand why I was so frustrated.

"It'll be a win for Brian Rose but I don't predict rounds. I've not got a loud mouth. I never have. I just come and do my job and that's what's going to happen on Saturday night.

Despite appearing to be stunned by several rights from Rose in the early stages in Blackpool, Jones is supremely confident of repeating his trick.

The 28-year-old said: "I gave him a rematch. I don't know if it will happen in the first round or the 12th round but I'm going to do the same business as I did in the first fight.

"I'm back with Abel Sanchez and had a great camp, a long camp and I'm prepared.

"This is boxing. You're going to get hit. I was never hurt. He got me with a clean punch and that was it. You're going to get hit but I came right back with my own combination and got a good counter-punch in.

"I hurt him. The referee saw fit to stop it. It wasn't my call. Maybe it could have kept going but like I said, that's the referee's job to do what he did."
