We already knew that Brian Rose would be returning to the ring on Oct. 4 for his first bout back since being drubbed by 154-pound titleholder Demetrius Andrade in June.
Now we know Rose’s opponent.
Rose announced on Twitter on Wednesday that he will be facing Juan Manuel Bonanni, an Argentine fighter with a record of 24-6-3 with 9 KOs. The 26-year-old last fought in February, getting stopped in the ninth-round by Martin Fidel Rios.
“Not just about winning,” Rose tweeted. “It's about looking good doing it.”
Rose, 29, was stopped in seven by Andrade. Prior to that, he took a controversial split decision in October 2013 over another Argentine opponent, Javier Maciel.
Rose’s return will be on a Matchroom Boxing show held in Leeds, United Kingdom, that will also feature former lightweight titleholder Ricky Burns and featherweight prospect Josh Warrington.
