Welterweight prospect Brian Norman, Jr. will now face Augustine Maurus tonight, promoter Cameron Dunkin told BoxingScene late Friday night.
The eight-round bout will take place at Buckhead Fight Club in Norman’s hometown of Atlanta, Georgia.
Norman was scheduled to face gatekeeper Todd Manuel, but the change of opponents occurred a few days ago. No reason was given why Manuel dropped out of the fight.
The 20-year-old (19-0, 16 knockouts) last fought on March 10, stopping Benjamin Whitaker in round 5. In his previous fight on October 17, Norman knocked out Juan Rodriguez, Jr. in the opening round.
Norman made his debut on ‘ShoBox’ on March 13 of last year, defeating Flavio Rodriguez by technical decision in round 7. He made his pro debut at the age of 17 in January 2018.
Maurus (7-10-3, 3 KOs), who resides in Lawrence, Massachusetts, lost by unanimous decision to Tobias Green in his last bout on March 4. The 30-year-old has lost his last three fights, including nine of his last 10.
In the co-feature of the Herb Robinson-promoted card, super middleweight Eric Moon (11-3, 6 KOs) of nearby Marietta, who lost by knockout to Edgar Berlanga in his last bout on July 21, will square off against Malcolm Jones in a six-round bout.
Jones (15-2, 9 KOs), who resides in Indianapolis, Indiana, lost by knockout to Lanell Bellows in his last bout on February 28 of last year.
Nine more fights are scheduled on the card.
