Brian "La Bala" Mendoza (16-0) has advised BoxingScene.com that he has signed a 5-year promotional agreement with Top Rank Inc. The 5'10" welterweight prospect will return to the ring for the first time since 2017 on Saturday in Stockton, California on the Artur Beterbiev-Radivoje "Hot Rod" Kalajdzic undercard that will be televised by ESPN.
Mendoza and the rest of the off tv undercard will be streamed live on ESPN+.
Mendoza had won 4 out of his last 5 fights by knockout before his extended ring hiatus. The 25-year-old is expected to be very busy the second half of 2019 to make up for lost time. Even though he has been out of the ring, he has stayed active training and sparring with many elite fighters in Las Vegas where he now lives.
The Cuban-American was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and is managed by Hector Fernandez de Cordova's Fercobox who also manage fighters such as Bryan Vasquez, Diego Magdaleno and Hanna Gabriels.
