At the International Centre in Brentwood, Brian Magee (32-3, 22KOs) used body shots to stop previously unbeaten Stevie McGuire (14-1, 4KOs) in eight rounds to win the vacant BBBofC British super middleweight title.

After a few rounds of action, Magee began to break ahead by using his harder punches to send McGuire down in the sixth round after pounding the body, and again in the seventh after more body work. Magee lost a point for a low blow. He once again went back to body in the eight and pounded McGuire until the fighter could no longer continue near the end of the round.

Magee has built up a decent streak since being stopped by Carl Froch back in 2006. His other two defeats were to Robin Reid and Vitali Tsypko

"I worked a lot in the gym on the body shots. This is just a fantastic way to end the year," said Magee.
