Denmark - Irishman Brian Magee stopped hometown favourite Mads Larsen in the seventh to won the vacant EBU super middleweight title. Larsen did well in the first three of the all southpaw matchup but Magee upped the pace in the fourth, attacked and hurt Larsen with right hooks downstairs.
In the fifth Magee continued his assault and floored Larsen with a body shot that was below the belt. Referee Erkki Meronen counted over Mads and Magee followed up with even lower punches but now there was a timeout to give the Dane time to recover. The writing was on the wall though and Magee was relentless in his pressure with Larsen floored twice in the sixth and it was stopped at 0.15 of the seventh with Mads again on the floor.
Lightweights Martin Kristjansen and Felix Lora drew over eight. Lora started well, then faded in the middle round and was outboxed but came back with a strong finish
Heavyweight Claus Bertino upset former EBU heavyweight champ Paolo Vidoz on a majority decision. It was scored 77-75 twice for Claus and 76-76. Vidoz showed skills but just wasn´t in shape enough although he closed out with a strong finish. For my money he nicked it but it was very close.
