At Ostseehalle in Kiel, Germany, former WBO heavyweight champion Lamon Brewster (35-4, 30 KOs) pulled out an eight-round unanimous decision over former British champion Michael Sprott (31-13, 16 KOs). The scores were 78-73, 78-73 and 79-73.
Brewster used his agressive style to take the lead as Sprott appeared to be unwilling to engange in the early rounds of the fight. In the third, Brewster dropped Sprott with a counter left. Once he recovered, Sprott knew he was behind and tried to become more active as the fight went along. Brewster threw the harder shots and outfought the British fighter down the stretch to capture many of the rounds.
