Brandon Rios was on the most recent edition of BoxingScene’s official audio show The Boxing Lab to talk about his upcoming fight with Cuban sensation Yuriorkis Gamboa on April 14th at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, NV.

“He’s going to think he’s in a horse race. That mother**ker’s gonna run. I think he’s going to run” stated the undefeated Rios. “Right when he feels the first hard shot I give him, he’s going to run. He’s not going to be able to handle my power”.

The bigger Rios is definitely going to bring his hard hitting but there’s also the question if Gamboa, also known for his power, will be able to carry it up two weight classes and have it show up in this fight. Much like everyone else, Rios isn’t sure if Gamboa will carry his power to 135 but he sure hope he does.

“He’s got power. He’s got tremendous power but you know what, I’m not just focused on his power. I’m focused on everything. And hopefully he does bring the power with him because I want to get tested myself. I want my chin to get tested. It’s been tested, it’s been hit but everybody’s saying  he’s  got knock out power punch so I want to test it” declared Rios.

While Rios is known for his come forward, hard hitting, relentless pressure style, he reveals we will see a different Brandon Rios on April 14th.

“[You’re] going to see a different Bam Bam this time. They’re not going to see the same one like they usually do. It’s going to be a different one. You know we’ve practiced. Robert [Garcia] corrected me for [Gamboa’s] style. So we’ll be ready like we did for [Miguel] Acosta. [Robert] did some things for Acosta to make me better and it worked out and he’s doing the same thing for Gamboa” said Brandon.

Rios had been doing some light training since early this year to stay in shape in between fights and has now put his camp into full swing.
