According to promoter Kalle Sauerland of Sauerland Event, WBA 'regular' light heavyweight champion Juergen Braehmer (46-2, 34KOs) is open stepping things up in his career with a unification fight against either WBC champion Adonis Stevenson or IBF/WBO/WBA super champion Sergey Kovalev.
Braehmer will defend his belt on Saturday night against Konni Konrad at the Energie Verbund-Arena in Dresden, Sachsen.
Stevenson will defend his belt on September 11th against Tommy Karpency, while Kovalev is due back in November with a voluntary defense against an opponent to be determined in Russia.
"In November, a fight [with Kovalev] will not happen. However, we certainly would like to organize this fight. At the moment, we are also discussing the possibility of a fight with WBC world champion Adonis Stevenson of Canada, as the unification of the titles is a priority for us," Sauerland said. "As for Kovalev, he is a great puncher. However, Braehmer is not a weak puncher. Besides that, Juergen is the more technical boxer. It would be a great fight."
