The undercard continues to take shape for Juergen Braehmer’s upcoming light heavyweight title defense versus Konni Konrad. Added to the show, teenage prodigy Leon Bauer will take on 15-fight veteran Darko Kneveic in supporting capacity, September 5 at EnergieVerbund Arena in Dresden, Germany.

Bauer—at just 16 years of age, the youngest fighter on the Sauerland Event roster—made his pro debut earlier this year after a standout amateur career. He is already 2-0 in the pro ranks, coming off of a 2nd round knockout of Misa Nikolic on the undercard of Arthur Abraham’s knockout win over Robert Stieglitz in their fourth fight this past July.

“Leon is a real gem,’’ said Kalle Sauerland in a statement through Sauerland Event’s press office. “At just sixteen years of age, he showed real class and composure, opening the show for Arthur Abraham, and stopping Nikolic in front of such a huge crowd. I must admit I was very impressed.’’

For the second straight time, Bauer (2-0, 2KOs) is facing an opponent with far more pro experience. It’s precisely the type of development he expected in this portion of his career, only providing that much more motivation during training camp.

“I will take on anyone who is put in front of me inside the squared circle,’’ said Bauer, who is based out of Hatzenbuehl, Germany. ‘’With every fight I will improve as I gain more experience. Besides, I’m still growing and will become bigger, stronger and more physical over the years.’’

For now, Bauer is competing in the super middleweight division. While he feels comfortable at the weight for the time being, the 6’1½” boxer believes the sky’s the limit on his career potential, no matter how high up the scales he chooses to climb.

“I want to become the world heavyweight champion,’’ Bauer insists.
