BoxingScene.com spoke with promoters Bob Arum and Gary Shaw about the potential fight between Edwin Valero and WBO junior welterweight champion Timothy Bradley. Shaw doesn't know if Arum, CEO for Top Rank, is actually serious about the fight.
Shaw said, "Ryan I don't know what the problem is. Bob said he wanted to make the fight and I have a venue in Mexico so we don't have to worry about visa issues. I also have a TV date with Showtime lined up and now I can't get a commitment from him."
Arum, during Wednesday's press conference for the Pinoy Power 3/Latin Fury 13 pay-per-view, told BoxingScene he doesn't see a reason to rush the negotiations because the proposed date is several months away.
"We are still interested in the fight. The date for the fight isn't till June. There is no rush," Arum said.
Shaw believes this is Arum's way of saying 'thanks, but no thanks.'
Arum showed some interest when BoxingScene advised him about Shaw's idea to make a Mexican dream fight between Antonio Margarito and Alfredo Angulo. Arum said it's an interesting fight and something that he might explore down the road.
