Hot-shot James DeGale is backing close pal Bradley Skeete to make an impact in professional boxing.
The Olympic 2008 gold medallist has regularly sparred with Skeete, and believes the youngster is the real deal.
Like DeGale, Skeete was an England international as an amateur.
And in 2009 he made it to the final of the ABAs, losing to talented Ronnie Heffron at light-welterweight.
He had planned to go to the Commonwealth Games in India, but while the tournament in Delhi has been unfolding, Skeete has been busily preparing for his pro debut.
That takes place at York Hall on October 23 on the undercard of Liam Walsh's Commonwealth lightweight title challenge against Maxwell Awuku, live on Sky Sports.
"I've known Bradley for years and he's a great prospect," said DeGale, who yesterday announced his big showdown with British Super-Middleweight Champion Paul Smith for December 11 in Liverpool.
He added, "I think people are going to be really impressed when they see him in action.
"He's still learning, and like everyone he will take a while to find his feet as a professional.
"But he's got all the tools to make it as a champion."
Skeete was based at Earlsfield ABA as an amateur.
And the club has got some impressive alumni - including former WBC world heavyweight champion Frank Bruno.
Skeete joins fellow pro-debutants Ahmet Patterson and Billy Morgan on the card.
