23-year-old Russian welterweight contender Konstantin Ponomarev (28-0, 13KOs) will be making his return on November 7th at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. The card will be headlined by WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley, who faces Brandon Rios in a bout topping an HBO televised card.
According to his co-promoter Alexey Vasiliev of Ural Boxing Promotion, Ponomarev will be looking to make another big impression with the HBO brass at ringside.
He returns from a very impressive win where he dominated previously undefeated Canadian prospect Mikael Zewski in May. The Russian fighter is trained by veteran coach Abel Sanchez.
His opponent, according to his co-promoter, will be Rico Mueller (19-1-1, 13KOs) of Germany. Mueller has won ten fights in a row since losing a six round unanimous decision back in 2010 to Lukasz Maciec. Mueller holds the IBO's Inter-Continental welterweight championship.
