BoxingScene.com was advised that doubleheader has been finalized for the HBO televised date of July 17 at the Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage, California. In the televised opener, Alfredo Angulo will face former junior middleweight champion Joachim Alcine (32-1, 19KOs) of Canada. Alcine has one loss, against Daniel Santos, from 2008. The fight was close until Santos caught him on the chin with a knockout shot in the sixth.

The main event will see WBO junior welterweight champion Timothy Bradley move up to welterweight to fight unbeaten puncher Luis Carlos Abregu, who was the original opponent for the date before being replaced by Marcos Maidana, who later withdrew with a back injury.

Promoter Gary Shaw told BoxingScene the WBO is pushing hard for Angulo to fight WBO junior middleweight champion Sergiy Dzinzurik. The WBO sent letters on Friday advised Shaw, the promoter for both Angulo and Dzinzurik, to make a fight between both of them within 15-days or the fight was heading to a purse bid.

The WBO has since given a deadline of 90-days to make the fight and/or each an agreement but Shaw says the sanctioning body is not giving him enough time to make the fight because there are no available television dates within the time given, and Dzinzurik may not be ready to fight until the fall.

How hard is the WBO pushing for Dzinzurik-Angulo? Shaw tried to get Angulo-Alcine sanctioned as a title fight with Angulo's interim-title at stake, and the WBO turned down his request.
