Royston's Brad Evans, 3-0-1 (0 early), the slick 2008 ABA Featherweight Champion, contacted BoxingScene.com this week to reveal all the details about his next fight.  “My next fight is on April 9th at Alexandra Palace [on the Audley Harrison vs. Albert Sosnowski undercard],” revealed Brad.  “I don't have an opponent at the moment though.”

“I can't wait to get out now after just returning from Tenerife,” continued Evans.  “After training with Darren Barker and Lee Purdy, I feel fit and still have a few weeks left until the fight, so I just need to get the sparring in now and then make sure I can bring it all together on the night.”

In his last fight, Brad beat Jon Baguley by a margin of 39-38, putting in a structured and composed performance against a game and durable foe in the process; he was evidently happy with how the fight played out, saying.  “I think the performance last time out wasn't bad considering the opposition.  I couldn't have it all my own way, but think I did enough to get the victory.”

Evans was also keen to laud his opponent that night.  “Yeah, Baguley has definitely been the toughest test so far,” he admitted.  “I think the ratings showed that by how much I shot up them by beating him, and the fact he'd been Central Area Champ meant I knew it wasn't going to be easy.  Also, in his last outing, stopping [Vinny] Mitchell in the 4th shows he is no mug.”

Brad continued: “With the opponent I had, and the amount of fights I'd had when I boxed him, I think it was probably my best performance so far.”

However, he was equally as insistent that this was by no means the best Brad Evans people will see.  “I think there is more to come from me with the things I am learning in the gym and doing in sparring, but I know that I've got to start doing that in the ring when it matters now,” he concluded.
