Boxxer has confirmed that Joshua Buatsi’s promotional agreement with them has concluded, amid reports that he is on the verge of signing with Queensberry Promotions.
The 32-year-old Buatsi’s terms with Boxxer ended when in February he suffered his first defeat, to Callum Smith. According to Yahoo Sports he is in talks with Frank Warren’s Queensberry. Before his acrimonious departure for Boxxer, he had long been promoted by Matchroom.
“To clarify, Joshua Buatsi’s promotional contract with Boxxer expired at the end of February,” read a statement from Boxxer. “His final fight under the Boxxer banner was his bout against Callum Smith. Joshua Buatsi is a free agent. Boxxer wish him well in his future endeavours.”
Signing with Queensberry would revive hopes of a potential fight between Buatsi and his fellow light heavyweight from London Anthony Yarde, who fights David Benavidez in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on November 22.
It would also prompt further questions about the future of Boxxer, whose broadcast agreement with Sky Sports recently came to an end.
