In today’s episode, Chris Algieri and coach Robert Garcia talked about whether the Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury fight should be in the UK or the US and then had serious discussions about Floyd Mayweather being charged with an alleged fraud, as well as the perils of boxer’s mismanaging their finances. They also talked about the upcoming Errol Spence vs. Tim Tszyu fight and how the losing fighter should strongly consider their future.
The two compelling experts then dive headfirst into BoxingScene Today viewer comments to end the show.
Robert Garcia took a surprising angle on Mayweather’s latest controversy over being criminally charged for a bounced check.
“Look, I've seen it all,” says Garcia, about boxers and their money. “I've lived boxing all my life, and I've seen fighters blow $20 to $30 million. It's just the way it is. With Mayweather, he's made hundreds, maybe close to billions of dollars, and for him to be at the position where he's at… if you're 200 short of your billing, that's already bad…
“(But) I think Mayweather is good. I think a lot of it might be publicity. He wants his name to be brought back, good or bad. It's good for his name to be out there. So, I really doubt that he's having trouble because I know he's got real estate. He's got businesses. Maybe some businesses haven't done well, but hey, that's part of being a wealthy person.”
