Recently, the Boxing Writers Association of America announced their annual awards and BoxingScene.com's contributors won big. Ron Borges, BoxingScene feature writer and sports writer for the Boston Globe cleaned up in the Boxing Writers Association of America's annual journalistic competition, the Barney Awards. Borges earned top honors in the Boxing Event Coverage category, second place for Boxing Column and third place for Boxing Feature (under 1,500 words).

The Barney Awards were created in 2002 to recognize the best work from BWAA members. They were named after two-time BWAA president Barney Nagler, who in 1972 received the first Nat Fleischer Award for excellence in boxing journalism.

BoxingScene contributor, and staff writer for the Bangor Daily News, T.K. Stewart, received a third place award for Boxing News Story category.

Tim Smith, host of BoxingScene's Expert Audio Analysis, and boxing columnist for the  New York Daily News was chosen as this year's recipient of the Nat Fleischer Award, which is the Boxing Writers Association of America's highest honor.

The Fleischer is given every year in recognition of a career marked by journalistic excellence. Honorees are selected by a poll of the living previous Fleischer winners.

BoxingScene.com contributers won more awards than any other boxing website on the internet.
