Pro boxing comes to Trenton, NJ this Saturday with a focus on action. NIT Management and Peltz Boxing topped this fight card with a 10-round junior middleweight main event between former Olympians, Terrance Cauthen (30-3) versus Nurhan Suleyman (16-3). Cauthen has been sitting down on his punches and showing power this year with two wins in the Blue Horizon. The rebounding Suleyman has not laced them up this year and has only won two of the past five bouts. His most recent bout was a TKO victory in Kazakhstan in October.
The main support bout has Jose “El Macho” Medina battling with Clarence “Sonny Bono” Taylor in an 8-round junior middleweight Medina (12-6) faced Miguel Figueroa in Philadelphia’s most exciting bout of 2005 will look to slug his way back to the win column after two losses. The active Taylor is 1-3 this year (10-9 overall), winning by quick knockout but losing on ESPN2 two weeks ago in Florida. Both bouts are forecast to be all action with a good mixture of slugging and boxing involved.
Seven additional fights are expected at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton on Saturday featuring Tiger Allen, Charles Cavallo and Berry Butler for power punching and Latif Mundy and Sean Bullock showcasing their boxing abilities in separate contests.
Nedal Abuhumoud, of NIT Management, is known for putting together better than average fight cards and for this one he’s teamed with Hall of Famer, Russel Peltz. Tickets are available at the Sovereign Bank Arena box office or by charge at 1-888-SBA Tixx (1-888-722-8499). Doors open at 6:30 on Saturday.
Philly boxing fans should also be aware of the fight card at the Blue Horizon on Friday night, June 2. Undefeated Eddie Chambers will have his chin tested against Ed Mahone. Mahone has won 23 fights, all by knockout, while losing six fights to guys such as Vitali Kiltschko, Henry Akinwande and Tye Fields.
Chamber’s brother, Steve, is on the card. Steve is usually in a thriller and will put his 11-1-1 up against James Edwards, who has alternated wins and loses in his 8-bout career.
Also on separate fights will be Max Alexander and Elad Schmouel. Both are coming off wins at the Blue Horizon. Alexander has built a fan base while staying busy in his undefeated career of 10 fights. Elad, from Israel, is 11-1 with his most recent fight taking place in the USA, that bout was a KO win a month ago in Philadelphia.
Blue Horizon fight night will by ready for you about 7:30pm on Friday and tickets can be reserved at 1 215-763-0500.
