BoxingScene.com spoke to heavweight contender Cedric Boswell (31-1) about a possible fight with Shannon Briggs (48-5). Boswell loves the idea.
"I would love to fight Shannon Briggs again. He has unfinished business with me. I beat him in the amateurs and I will beat him again." Boswell added, "I want anybody in the top 10. Briggs isn't in the top 10 but I would love to fight him. We thought we had a fight with Jean Marc Mormeck but he went and fought Oquendo instead. If they want to make it an eliminator to get to either Klitschko that is fine with me."
A fight between Boswell and Briggs makes sense for a lot of reasons. The winner would get more exposure needed to help sell the idea of fighting a Klitschko. Wladimir Klitschko has a mandatory with Alexander Povetkin on the horizon and Vitali Klitschko has a ridiculous fight with Albert Sosnowski coming up on May 29th so both fighters won't be availble for at least 6 months. Boswell has been a proponent of having the top 8 American heavyweights fight a tournament and the winner gets to fight one of the Klitschko brothers. Such a tournament would bring a little more spark to a dull division.
