Bohachuk Keeps KO Streak Going, Ready For More in 2020

Hard-hitting junior middleweight Serhii Bohachuk stopped Carlos Galvan Friday night at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California.

Bohachuk improves to 17-0, 17 knockouts.

The 24-year-old Bohachuk last fought on Oct. 27, knocking out hard-hitting gatekeeper Tyrone Brunson in the fourth round at The Avalon in Hollywood, California, where he has created a decent fan base in recent months.

In Friday's fight, Bohachuk slowly broke Galvan down with each round, closing the distance between the two and firing two-three punch combinations to the head and body. Galvan would fight back, but Bohachuk's accurate punches would force Galvan to hold onto Bohachuk or back away.

The end came in round five as Bohachuk's thudding and powerful punches forced Galvan to the canvas three times. Referee Thomas Taylor stopped the bout at 1:40 to save Galvan from taking any more punishment.

"I felt very well," said Bohachuk after the fight. "It was a quality opponent for a tune-up fight. I fought not too long ago. It was (a) good fight to finish the year. Now it's time to get some rest and prepare for the next fight."

Bohachuk, who is originally from the Ukraine and now lives in Big Bear Lake, California, is trained by Abel Sanchez. He is promoted by Tom Loeffler's 360 Promotions.

Galvan, who resides in Apartado, Colombia, drops to 17-10-1, 16 KOs.

Also on the Golden Boy Promotions card, welterweight Ferdinand Kerobyan of North Hollywood, California knocked out former fringe lightweight contender Fernando Carcamo (23-11, 18 KOs) of Ciudad Obregon, Mexico in the opening round.

Kerobyan (13-1, 8 KOs) dropped Carcamo twice before referee Ray Corona stopped the bout at 1:46.

Both fights took place after the main event bout between welterweights Vergil Ortiz and Brad Solomon, which Ortiz won by knockout in round five.
