As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, Karo Murat relinquished the EBU light heavyweight title to go for the vacant (or soon to be vacant) IBO title. This left official challenger Serhyi Demchenko without opponent.
Today, however, it´s been announced by the EBU that a co-challenger have been found and that is former EBU titleholder Dominic Boesel, the man Karo Murat beat to become champ.
Boesel was already lined up to headline a SES show in Weissenfels on March 3 with an opponent to be announced and now it is Boesel vs Demchenko for the vacant and prestigious EBU title.
These happenings might very well be connected as SES had an option on Murat and a rematch with Boesel was announced for December 16 of last year but then Boesel had to pull out due to an injury late November and was never rescheduled and Demchenko entered the scene as official challenger for Murat.
