Bobby Bostick Promotions, in association with Nelsons Promotions, is making big moves in the boxing business by signing numerous international talents in various weight classes.
The Russians are coming. The Russians are coming.
Bostick signs junior welterweight Sergey "Super" Sorokin (22-1, 17KOs) of Ekaterinburg, Russia. Sorokin has one loss on his record, dropping a 6-round unanimous decision to current IBF junior welterweight champion Juan Urango in 2004. Since the Urango loss, Sorokin has won seven bouts in a row - all by knockout! Sorokin is looking to land another title shot in the near future.
Moving up to the big men, Bostick signs Russian cruiserweight, Nicolay "Sledge Hammer" Popov (17-2, 9KOs), also from Ekaterinburg, Russia. Fighting initially as a heavyweight, Popov has since dropped down to the cruiserweight division, his natural weight. Popov holds winds over heavyweight veterans Sedrick Fields and Corey "T-Rex" Sanders, the same man that holds a KO win over current WBC heavyweight champion Oleg Maskaev.
Completing the Russian invasion is Bostick's aquisition of super bantamweight Alexander Fedorov (17-2, 10KOs), from Cheboksary, Russia. Fedorov has beaten numerous prospects while fighing overseas in Russia. Coming off a disqualification loss to well known bantamweight Johnny Bredahl, Fedorov is looking for revenge.
Bostick did not forget about the red hot Latin fighters, as he signs cruiserweight Ramon Garbey (17-4, 13KOs), who is coming out of retirement to make another run at the title. Garbey is from Cuba, he won the world title as an amateur in light heavyweight division (– 81 kg) at the 1993 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Tampere, Finland. In the final, he defeated Nigeria's Jacklord Jacobs. Prior to that, Garbey captured the gold medal at the 1991 Pan American Games in the middleweight division (– 75 kg). Nicknamed "El Nino" he made his professional debut on September 20, 1996 in Miami, Florida.
A veteran Latin fighter joins the ranks of Bobby Bostick Promotions, as bantamweight Mauricio Pastrana (32-7, 20KOs) of Columbia signs with the company. Pastrana, a tough veteran, has twice battled with current pound-for-pound IBF bantamweight champion Rafael Marquez.
This is just the tip of the iceberg for Bobby Bostick Promotions. Stay tuned to breaking news with respect to Kermit Cintron's next fight.
