With former four division world champion Miguel Cotto (40-5, 33KOs) still looking for his next opponent, there has been some talk of former two-division beltholder Tim Bradley (33-2-1, 13KOs) being considered - and according to the head of Top Rank, Bob Arum, they have been contacted regarding this possibility.
Currently, Bradley - who's coming off his twelve round decision loss on April 9th to Manny Pacquiao - is coaching his son's high school football team as he takes a hiatus from the ring.
Cotto has been out of the ring since last November, when he dropped a twelve round unanimous decision to Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.
But as Top Rank prepares for their November 5th pay-per-view event in Las Vegas, featuring Manny Pacquiao and Jessie Vargas, Arum told BoxingScene.com:
"Our plate's full right now, we can't do everything. We have people at Sportel (in Monaco) selling our foreign broadcasts. That's big, big money, that's very important. Todd (duBoef) and Carl (Moretti) are going to Ireland for the press conference for Mick Conlan. To talk about a Cotto-Bradley fight that's not some time till the spring next year, well after the Super Bowl...when the time comes we'll talk about it."
"In other words, certainly we're not going talk about it before November 5th. I'm left here alone in the United states, me and Fred(Sternburg) and Lee Samuels and I've got my work cut out for me. So I can't get involved in negotiations with Cotto and Roc Nation (Sports) and so forth and Bradley all he gives a damn about is coaching that football team."
Having said that, Arum is more than willing to negotiate the fight when the time is right.
"So after the football season and the Pacquiao fight, why couldn't we talk?,'' said Arum.
