Standing 6ft 3ins tall and fighting with the confidence of a seasoned pro, Filipino middleweight Blazen Rocili continued his undefeated streak Saturday night with a commanding unanimous decision over Da Priest Johnson at the Alzafar Shrine Auditorium in San Antonio.
Rocili, 8-0 (6 KOs), showed maturity and poise in the four-round contest, using his reach and ring IQ to control the action from start to finish. All three judges scored the fight 40-36 in favor of the 22-year-old Las Vegas-based Rocili.
Johnson, 2-3, struggled to match Rocili’s pace and spent much of the bout on the defensive.
“It felt amazing to fight out there in Texas,” Rocili said after the win. “The fans were incredible, and I’m glad I could give them a show. Johnson was running the whole fight, but I stuck to my game plan, controlled the distance, applied the pressure and stayed sharp. I’m ready for whoever is next.”
Rocili’s manager, Andrew Bocanegra, was equally impressed with the performance. “Blazen looked fantastic tonight – he showed maturity and control throughout the fight,” Bocanegra said. “We’re looking to get him back in the ring early next year against tougher competition. The goal is to keep building his experience and positioning him for bigger opportunities in 2025. The sky’s the limit for Blazen.”
