Sources in Las Vegas has advised BoxingScene.com that a cruiserweight battle is still on course to take place in 2015, between BJ Flores (31-1-1, 20KOs) and Beibut Shumenov (15-2, 10KOs). Both fighters are managed/advised by Al Haymon and the fight is expected to place on a Premier Boxing Champions card.

The fight was originally being targeted for June 12th in Chicago. That entire card was changed around when WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck was removed from the event. The initial plan was to have Huck headline against mandatory challenger Krzysztof Glowacki, and then Huck (provided he wins) would face the winner of Flores-Shumenov at a later card.

Flores-Shumenov could still very well take place alongside Huck's United States debut. No solid date or location has been determined for either fight.

Flores was very active in 2014, returning after a near two year layoff and picking up three wins. Shumenov, a former champion at 175-pounds, lost a decision to Bernard Hopkins last April. He made his debut at cruiserweight in December with a fifth round stoppage of Bobby Thomas Jr.
