It was announced on Saturday that Main Events will be working in some capacity with WBA light heavyweight titlist, Dmitry Bivol, who is promoted by Russia-based promotional company World of Boxing.

Bivol, who made his U.S. debut in 2015, made his HBO debut on November 4th as he blew out Trent Broadhurst in one round in Monaco.

The announcement by Main Events was made on Saturday night at the Madison Square Garden, before Sergey Kovalev knocked out Vyacheslav Shabranskyy in two rounds at the Theater to capture the vacant WBO light heavyweight title.

Kathy Duva, the head of Main Events explained - "We're going to work together on his next fight in the United States and that will hopefully be in the spring (of 2018) and we're going to start working on that next week with HBO and hopefully that's where the deal will be made and after that we want to work together, find out what it's like, we'll see how it goes and we'll decide about moving forward.

"But the intention on both parties side is to continue to work together if all goes well."

Kovalev, is slated to return on March 3rd to MSG and there's a good possibility that Bivol will land on that HBO broadcast.

Duva (12-0, 10 KOs) confirmed to BoxingScene.com,"that would also be an option to be discussed. We're just now sure, yet."

Bivol , who last year capture the WBA's interim title, became the full beltholder after "regular" champion Badou Jack vacated the title after being ordered to make a mandatory defense against the Russian boxer, and then the WBA 'super' championship was vacated when Andre Ward retired from boxing.

Bivol's mandatory challenger is Cuban boxer Sullivan Barrera, who is also handled by Main Events. Barrera was also in action on Saturday at MSG, and won a ten round decision over Felix Valera - who was beaten last year by Bivol.
