After losing a twelve round decision to WBO/IBF super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe in Manchester, England - Australian-Cameroonian fighter Sakio Bika told the Sydney Morning Herald, that he wants Aussie Anthony Mundine in a huge all-Australian battle in their country.
Based on being a 10-1 underdog against Calzaghe and putting on a spirited performance, Bika feels that he deserves the big bout with Mundine.
"I want to fight the best in the world, and tonight I showed the world what I can do," Bika said. "It gives me a lot of confidence, and there were a lot of big people at ringside who congratulated me after the fight. Maybe when I get back to Australia, I will get that big phone call."
Bika's promoter Angelo Hyder said Bika's next fight would likely fall on the undercard of the Danny Green promotion in Newcastle on December 10, Mundine is who his fighter wants.
"Anthony Mundine should give Sakio a shot, its a chance to gauge himself against the best in the world," Hyder said. "He wants to fight the best doesn't he? Anthony doesn't run from people, and Choc versus Sakio would be a great fight for Australia."
