Light heavyweight contender Artur Beterbiev (7-0, 7KOs) is giving his training stablemate, Jean Pascal, a very good shot to defeat WBO/WBA/IBF champion Sergey Kovalev on March 14th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.
Beterbiev and Pascal share the same trainer and at times they prepare side by side. The up and coming fighter also face, and beat, Kovalev in the amateurs.
Beterbiev returns on April 4th in a co-headliner to Adonis Stevenson's defense of the WBC light heavyweight title.
"Pascal is a very versatile fighter, both technically and with his punches. Besides that, he knows a lot of different techniques as a professional. He has a very good chance to win. He is in no way in the same position as Bernard Hopkins [who Kovalev beat]. [Pascal] is young and he can show a lot of things in the ring. I do not want to guess - basically, everything will depend on the quality of training and which of them is in the best possible condition for the fight," Beterbiev said.
