North American Boxing Federation super bantamweight champion Bernabe Concepcion (25-1-1, 14 KO's) is in good spirits and happy and says “everything is going well.”
Respected WBC ring physician Dr. Allan Recto told Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today that he had spoken to Concepcion who informed he was doing well in his preparation for the ten round battle with tough Adam Carrera (19-3, 8 KO's) on the undercard of the eagerly awaited clash between Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito on July 26.
Concepcion is aware that Carrera is taller than him and is doing everything in order to ensure an impressive performance.
Dr. Recto said that celebrated trainer Freddie Roach was upset with Concepcion who showed up late for his scheduled sparring on Friday. He said Concepcion spars with Armenian and Mexican fighters who are “bigger than him and punch harder.”
Concepcion picked up a new mouthpiece from the office of Dr. Ed De La Vega and said he liked it as “it fits perfectly and doesn’t fall out easily.”
Dr. Recto noted that Concepcion ’s handlers, Aljoe Jaro, Michael Koncz and Manny Pacquiao are not rushing the 20 year old although if he continues his impressive performances a title shot is in the offing sometime next year.
