North American Boxing Federation super bantamweight champion Bernabe Concepcion is scheduled to fight in Manila on December 17 according to Michael Koncz who handles the world-rated Filipino along with Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao and former boxer Aljoe Jaro.

In an overseas telephone conversation with insidesports.ph, Standard Today and Viva Sports, Koncz said he had spoken to Aljoe Jaro who informed him that his plan was to get a Korean opponent for Concepcion .

Koncz said he told Aljoe Jaro to make sure “bring in somebody that will give him rounds but not somebody that’s got power.” Koncz said “we need a work fight.”

Referring to Concepcion’s  8th round TKO win over Giovanni Caro who almost totally shut the Filipino’s left eye, Koncz said Caro just like John Ruiz who Concepcion beat over ten rounds in a previous bout was “a tough fight but we got what we wanted. Eight rounds. But he (Concepcion) really had to work hard.”

Koncz said the game-plan is to “match Concepcion against fighters where he has to work a little harder each time” adding that he feels the hard-hitting 20 year bold needs one or two more fights before he steps into the ring for a shot at a world title.

Koncz indicated they were looking at Steven Luevano but conceded that Concepcion was “not ready as yet because this guy is a counter-puncher.”
