Fernando Beltran, President of Zanfer Promotions, is pleased with his promotioanl banner's huge run in the month of April, which saw the crowning of several world champions. Zanfer is a huge promotional force in Latin America and has now become one of the largest promotional companies worldwide. Six Zanfer fighters racked up six wins in six world title fights in the month of April.
"This is the result of the great work that we all do at Zanfer, both in the office and at the gym, and in the ring. Everything is the product of the hard work of our team with planning, organization. We put our trust in the talent of our fighters and give them opportunities," said Beltran.
However, throughout Beltran's 16 years in boxing, he never had a more impressive period than the thirty days in April 2011.
On April 2 in Mexicali, Baja California, Giovani Segura retained his flyweight title of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) against Ivan "Iron Boy" Calderon by knockout in 3 rounds. On the same day, Hernan "Tyson" Marquez went to the "lion's den" in Panama City and knocked Luis "Nica" Conception in eleven rounds to capture the flyweight title of the World Boxing Association.
On April 16, Orlando "Siri" Salido stopped undefeated Juan Manuel Lopez (31-1, 27 KOs) in eight round to capture the WBO featherweight title in Puerto Rico.
On April 30th, Ulises "Archie" Solis went to Argentina to capture the IBF junior flyweight title from Luis Alberto Lazarte with a spit decision. And in Mexico City, twin brothers Raul and Ramon Herrera walked away with WBO titles by knocking out Romel Asenjo and Jesus Geles.
Beltran expects the run to continue.
"On Saturday, 'Travieso' Arce will look to become the first Mexican to achieve four world championships in four weight divisions when he challenges WBO super bantamweight title Wilfredo Vazquez in Las Vegas, and a week later his brother 'Panchito' Arce goes for the WBA interim title against Hugo Ruiz in Los Mochis," Beltran said.
"And on June 4 there is a great opportunity for Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., when he challenges Sebastian Zbik for the WBC middleweight title in Angeles. The results we achieved in April will fill us with confidence and motivation to go for the titles we have on deck and to achieve a historical 2011."
