Tough Lightweight Raymundo Beltran is coming off a big victory as he upset Hank Lundy on ESPN last July and earned a hard fought majority decision. Beltran had received some questionable decisions in his career but he was finally able to get the nod in a big fight as he now is looking forward to capitalizing on his win.

BoxingScene recently caught up Beltran at Robert Garcia’s Boxing Academy in Oxnard, CA as he is helping Brandon Rios get ready for his fight with Mike Alvarado. After an intense and exciting sparring session with Rios, Beltran informed he is looking for a big fight in the Lightweight division.

“I’ve been fighting anybody. I’m the kind of fighter that I have no promoter. I make my own way. Nobody gave me nothing. I’m trying to get big fights, good fights. I’m not looking for an easy fight. I’m trying to get the big names and anybody in the [lightweight division] to show and prove to everyone that hey, I’m a good fighter also” said Beltran.

“I want to fight Broner. Any champion but if Broner was supposed to fight [Lundy], well okay, I beat him now fight me. I don’t want an easy fight. I’ve always been the underdog.”
Adrien Broner is currently looking for an opponent to fight on his new date of November 3rd as he has now moved into the Lightweight division. Beltran would love nothing more than to get an opportunity to get a crack at the undefeated former Super Featherweight champion.

“I think he’s a great fighter and that’s who he is. He’s a good fighter, a strong fighter and he’s fast and all but I believe in myself. To me it’s a challenge and that’s what I want. I respect him but I want to prove that I’m better than him. He does have more exposure than I do but it doesn’t mean he’s better than me. I just need exposure so people can see who I am” expressed Beltran.

Beltran is currently a free agent as he currently does not have a promoter. He’s anxious to get back in the ring and land a big fight against Broner or any of the top guys in the division. In the meantime, he will be giving Rios some good work in training and getting some good work himself as he awaits his next assignment.
