Tony Bellew has offered a football fan two tickets to his fight next month after he and his Dad were involved in travel trouble.
The Liverpool cruiserweight is an avid Evertonian and will be pitchside in London today as his beloved side take on Manchester United in the semi-final of the Emirates FA Cup.
Bellew, 33, will fight at the home of his side, at Goodison Park, against Ilunga Makabu (19-1, 18 KOs) on May 29 for the vacant WBC cruiserweight world title, exclusively live on Sky Sports.
And after reading on social media about the plight of the two Blues, Dan and his five-year-old son, who were left in Liverpool after their coach to Wembley Stadium failed to show, the 26-2-1 (16 KOs) former European titlist made them a kind offer.
Writing to Dan’s son on Twitter, Bellew said: “I’d like to offer you [two] tickets on me to my fight at Goodison Park on May 29, if you can make it, little man.”
Needless to say, the offer was greatly received and accepted.
Meanwhile, the pair will get to enjoy a day out in the capital city after all, with thanks owed to Virgin Trains, who gave them seats on a train to London Euston, and Everton themselves, who handed them tickets to the game.
Travel Everton, the travel company involved in the debacle, has been in touch with the unfortunate, or fortunate, fan to offer its apologies.
“Our fourth coach left has left two people behind,” wrote disgruntled organiser John Murray –– who was also left behind –– on social media. “[The] [p]roblem has been solved. The fourth coach did not pick [them] up [and they will have their] money refunded.
“We will see [Dan and his son] down there to sort everything out and he will be on our coach on the way [home]. Once again, apologies.”
