Golden Boy Promotions is hoping that emerging Filipino ring sensation Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista would be back in training soon and have tentatively scheduled a fight for the undefeated 20 year old on November 25 in Texas.
According to Eric Gomez, vice president and international matchmaker for Golden Boy Promotions if the November 25 date was too early they had lined up a fight in Florida on December 2. However, Gomez stressed that it was up to respected boxing patron Tony Aldeguer to make a decision on when Bautista who relinquished his WBO Asia Pacific bantamweight title to move up to super bantamweight, would be ready.
Aldeguer himself said that he would not rush Bautista although he has recovered completely from his hairline collarbone fracture suffered in a freak accident while shadow boxing at Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles.
Aldeguer indicated he would first have Bautista thoroughly checked by reputable doctors to find out whethere he was ready to begin sparring.
Bautista who took a break in his hometown of Candijay, Bohol after the injury has been jogging and doing light workouts and is eager to get back in the ring.
