Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista put on a show for his adoring fans when he decked Leon Maratas in a well-attended public session at the Fight Club in the Banilad Town Center in Cebu.
In his first public sparring session since he suffered a hairline fracture of his collarbone, the emerging ring sensation floored Maratas in the second round with a wicked combination. Maratas had to be carried out of the ring.
The 20 year old undefeated Bautista who has a record of 20-0 with 15 knockouts then traded leather with Reman Salim and Mark Yap in a performance that showed he had fully recovered from his freak injury which he suffered while merely shadow boxing at the Wild Card gym of trainer Freddie Roach.
Bautista is scheduled to leave for Los Angeles next Wednesday to step up preparations for his December 2 battle with Brazilian super bantamweight champion Giovanni Andrade in Tampa, Florida in a fight card of Golden Boy Promotions.
Bautista is looking forward to a title fight against WBO super bantamweight champion Daniel Ponce De Leon who earlier claimed that Bautista had been ducking him.
