Two fighters scheduled to appear on All Star Boxing's "Battle of the Rising Stars" show suffered medical setbacks and will not participate on this Friday's show.  Roberto Estrada, scheduled to meet Karl Noons, suffered a broken thumb in sparring and will sit out the show with hopes of being able to fight again this summer.  Sacramento's Velvet Malone, who lost a decision to Estrada last December, will now face Noons. 

 

Aaron Martinez' situation surrounds a spider bite on his knee that seems to have reacted badly, resulting in great swelling, pain and fluid accumulation.  He is being treated and hopes to get back in the gym soon.  Vardan Gasparyan will fill in and fight Alan Velasco.  This will now be a four round bout.

 

An intriguing 6 round bantamweight fight has been added.  Former Colombian national team star Johnny Perez, 2-0, will face Dominican Edison Morillo, 12-3-2.  Morillo was to have faced Perez' stablemate Abner Mares until Mares had to pull out of last weekend's bout in Chicago due to injury.  Morillo's experience has not fazed Perez' camp as there was no hesitation to take the fight.

 

The final bout added to the show pits two fighters familiar to All Star Boxing fans.  A rejuvenated Darrin Freeman, who has fought mostly as a cruiserweight or heavyweight, chisels down to light heavyweight to face Robert Ryan, who dropped a controversial decision on the last Quiet Cannon show. 

 

One final note...Dustin Schaffer has dropped out of the show due to apparent lack of physical readiness.  There will be no replacement to face Bobby Patterson.
