Barrios Granted Permission To Leave Argentina To Fight

A judge in Argentina has granted former world champion Jorge Rodrigo "Hyena" Barrios permission to fight outside of the country. Oral Criminal Court in Mar del Plata gave him permission to leave the country between August 25 and September 19. Last year's scheduled fight with Erik Morales was cancelled because Barrios was unable to leave Argentina.

Barrios was involved in a car crash which took place on January 24 of last year, and the accident took the life of Yamila Gonzalez, at the intersection of Independence Avenue and Calle Ayacucho, which is located in the neighborhood of Mar del Plata. Gonzalez was six months pregnant and died after being hit by a car that was previously hit by Barrios' BMW. She was crossing the street with her mother when the accident took place.
