The team of Marco Antonio Barrera is advising their fighter to postpone his upcoming bout with Amir Khan, scheduled for March 14 at the MEN Arena in Manchester. Last Saturday night in Mexico, Barrera suffered a bad cut above his left eye when opponent Freudis Rojas speared him with his head, resulting in a third-round disqualification. There are many who question Barrera's logic in facing a 1-7 opponent when a Khan fight was around the corner.

A member of Barrera's team told ESTO that a meeting is scheduled with promoter Don King in Florida, and they are advising the fighter to ask for a postponement of the fight. Barrera received several stitches to close the cut. There are conflicting reports as to how many stitches, ranging from 3 to 14. Barrera's team has training concerns, due to the cut.

The paper was told that Barrera should be healed and ready to go by May. There is no official word on the outcome of the meeting with King.
