Lightweight Ty Barnett (20-2-1) knows that his August 3rd fight against Mercito Gesta (25-0-1) may be his last chance to take his career to the next level. The fight serves as the main event of ESPN's Friday Night series that takes place in Las Vegas. Barnett is looking at the fight as his coming out party.
"It's my chance right here to introduce myself to the masses of the boxing world who aren't familiar with me in spectacular fashion when I upset Gesta," Barnett told BoxingScene.
The 29 year old feels that Gesta has a good skill set but doesn't think that he will be able to withstand his power. Barnett is confident that he will be able to adjust to Gesta as the fight progresses.
"He's a good fighter but I don't really think much of him. He's got good speed and decent power but that's it. He's a blown up flyweight about to face a natural 135lbs fighter with devastating punching power who can box and bang and make the needed adjustments in the fight," Barnett explained.
Barnett finished by saying that he is extremely motivated for the fight ands that no one can stop him from leaving the ring with his hand raised.
"I'm hungrier then ever and won't let nothing get in the way of me attaining a world title. The fans can follow Ty on Twitter @TybarnettKo," Barnett concluded.
